I have served over twenty years as a U.S. Navy Submarine Officer. I knows what it looks like when someone has carried real responsibility — when leadership isn't theoretical but tested, when the stakes were actual and the decisions were yours to own.
I also knows what happens to that knowledge when people leave the service or step back from their companies. Most of it disappears. It lives in after-action reviews no one reads, in conversations that never get recorded, in the heads of people who were too busy doing the work to write it down.
